Yoga in and Around our Ft. Hunt Community

Often it can be hard to find the time for a class. Getting there is half the challenge, but finding options that are near to you could make it easier! I wanted to collect options for a variety of yoga class options in our Ft. Hunt Community.

FREE CLASSES

There are several free yoga classes in our community.

  • Adults: *New* On Saturday, June 27: Community Yoga at the Global War On Terrorism Memorial Site at 9am-11am, this is sponsored by the Veterans Yoga Project and affiliated with Yoga Alliance. Register here.

  • Adults: Martha Washington Library: Select Mondays at 5:30pm. No registration required. After checking the schedule, show up and partake. (Kids and baby classes also available.)

  • Adults: Sherwood Hall LIbrary: Tuesdays/ Wednesdays see here.

  • Adults: Jess Purtell’s studio in Belle View hosts monthly free community classes once a month. Registration required.

PAID CLASSES

  • Adults: MVPA in Hollin Hall has launched a Sunday morning class at 11am for the summer. I will job share and teach bi-weekly. This is open to members and guests of members. ($20 members/ $25 non-members)

  • Kids: I am launching a small-group yoga class in Ft. Hunt for kids in July-August on Saturday mornings. At the end of the series, kids will have a foundation of breath and movement to carry with them into the new school year! And a community of yoga friends! ($20 per class per kiddo/ $120 for 7-week series [split with St. Luke’s for use of the space])

  • Adults (Does have a family class per month): Jess Purtell’s studio in Belle View offers a variety of yoga, pilates, meditation and other classes daily! Jess’ 10am Sunday class is awesome; and the Friday/ Sunday Calm & Curious classes are a great way to start your weekend and start your week! You can pay per class, a 5 class pack, monthly fee or other configurations. (more pricing options available via website: single class $29/ new student 7-day pass $39/ 5-class pack $135)

  • Adults/ Childcare is $5 per kid for 2-hours in kids gym: Results on Route 1 offers the gym and a range of classes, including yoga. The 10:30 am Monday and 10:15 am Friday classes - on the rare chance I can make them during the week - and 9:15am Saturday class are a few of my favorites. They have a monthly fee. Recently they have offered monthly Yoga Nidra classes for a $5 non-member fee. ($40 per month for one membership)

  • Adults: There are also a few local teachers offering classes in parks - one at Collingwood and one at Waynewood. I will try to reach out to the teachers to see if I can list here. Cost is per class.

If you are a yoga teacher in Ft. Hunt please contact me and I would be happy to highlight your class and information here! If you are a student, please share about a wonderful community class and I will work to keep this updated.
